P´s & Q´s

P´s & Q´s

This was an individual project. My class got a brief from our teacher which stated that KKN, Team Sweden and Utrikes Departementet wanted something that makes it easier to do an internship in a foreign country.
In the project we were following a graphic manual consisting a dark blue and a yellow primary color and “San Fransisco” font.

After some research I found out that there was three important things which stood out; accommodation, find a good internship and find people to hang out with. So I chose to make a mobile first (app) that helps you adapt to the culture your going to live in.

To make it easier to do an internship in another country, I did an app that you learn social codes from. To make it easier to adapt in another culture, with simple tips & tricks. I gave it the name P&Q’s, from an old printer’s axiom. Back in the early days of printing presses, each line of text had to be set up one letter at a time. Since the letters in the press were reversed (so they’d print forward), the printmaker or typographer needed to be careful not to confuse one letter for the other.
Reminding someone to “watch his p’s and q’s” means to pay attention to the details.
